Seton Harker Heights is Creating Futures Through Internship Program

Internship participants

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is excited to be participating in the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) Creating Futures Summer Program for the third year in a row.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is designed to help job seekers acquire the “employment, education, training and support services necessary to succeed in the labor market.” The program helps millions of individuals secure fulfilling jobs and acquire the skills and credentials needed to obtain them through meaningful, challenging and interesting tasks that can build transferable skills. WIOA allows the Texas workforce system to continue as a market-driven system.

Director of Human Resources at Seton Harker Heights, Mona J. Tucker, shares, “We have had the opportunity to convert some of the youth in this program to full time positions like Environmental Services and Health Information Management. This is our way of giving back to our community and assisting our youth in gaining valuable job skills as they progress out of high school and into college, with many of the youth currently attending college.”

Please join us in welcoming our newest interns!
