Imaging tests we offer

From angiography and X-rays to complex endoscopic procedures and digital mammography, we offer a full spectrum of advanced imaging services delivered by caring, knowledgeable technologists. Our leading-edge technology allows us to provide the latest in diagnostic techniques, including:

3D mammography — Also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, 3D mammography is superior at detecting invasive breast tumors as well as tumors located in dense breast tissue. 3D technology takes a series of images and generates a three-dimensional picture that is much clearer than two-dimensional images allowing physicians to detect cancers sooner and more accurately.

Breast ultrasound (sonography) — Breast ultrasounds are often used to further evaluate an abnormality found during a mammogram. This test allows doctors to see the area closest to the chest wall and determine whether a breast lump is filled with fluid or if it’s a solid mass.

Computerized tomography (CT) scans — CT or CAT scans combine X-ray and computer technology to show detailed, 3D images of any part of the body, including bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels. Scans can also be performed using a contrast solution to make tissues and vessels more visible.

Digital mammography — Mammograms are an X-ray scan of the breast used to screen for or diagnose breast cancer. We offer digital imaging technology so your radiologist can zoom in on particular areas or change the brightness and contrast for greater visibility. This allows us to provide you with the most accurate results possible.

Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG) — Many respiratory conditions, especially those affecting the lungs and surrounding structures, can mimic or be mistaken for heart-related problems due to their close proximity in the chest. Symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, and palpitations can be present in both heart and lung conditions. An ECG can help differentiate between the two by providing insights into the heart’s electrical activity and ruling out cardiac abnormalities.

Fluoroscopy — Fluoroscopy uses X-rays to provide real-time images of the area being examined. Commonly used to examine the intestines and large bowel, fluoroscopy can also examine the skeletal, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems, as well as the heart, lungs and kidneys.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) — MRIs use a powerful magnet, radio waves, and computer technology to provide detailed images of tissues, muscles, nerves, and bones. MRIs can be used to assess everything from ruptured discs in the spine to brain tumors and vascular diseases.

Nuclear medicine — Nuclear medicine is a specialized area of radiology that uses very small amounts of radioactive material (given orally or intravenously) to examine an organ’s structure and metabolic function.

Pulmonary function test — This non-invasive breathing test can assess how well your lungs are functioning. Pulmonary function tests provide valuable information about the capacity and efficiency of your respiratory system and can help diagnose various lung conditions, monitor disease progression, and assess the effectiveness of treatments.

Ultrasound — Ultrasounds use reflected sound waves to create real-time mages of soft tissues, including muscles, blood vessels and organs. Although ultrasounds are commonly used to examine a fetus during pregnancy, they can also be used to discover abnormalities in organs and detect narrowed arteries, clotted veins, and growths like tumors and cysts.

X-ray — X-rays use invisible, electromagnetic energy beams to produce images of internal tissues, bones and organs. X-ray technology is used in many types of diagnostic procedures, including arteriograms, CT scans and fluoroscopy.

2D and 3D mammograms

Did you know 75% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of breast cancer, or are not considered high risk? A standard mammogram can miss up to 50% of cancers present in women with dense breasts. That’s why it’s important to schedule 3D mammograms as well. 3D mammograms use similar equipment and procedures as traditional 2D mammograms and have no additional risk to patients compared with traditional mammograms.

To schedule a mammogram online you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be over the age of 40
  2. Not experiencing any mass, lump or discharge
  3. Not scheduling a follow up to an abnormal screening or surgery
  4. Not have a history of breast cancer 
  5. Not had a mammogram in the last year (past 365 days)
  6. Have a health care provider that will receive your report

If you do not meet the criteria listed above please call 254-680-6362 to schedule your appointment.   If you do not meet the testing criteria at the time of your visit, your exam may be canceled or rescheduled to the appropriate location or provider.

No referral is necessary for screening and most insurances now cover 3D mammography exams. For patients whose insurance does not cover 3D technology, the added costs beyond traditional mammograms can still be affordable. Be sure to check with your insurance for coverage rates.
